Patidar took the lead on the wicket on which international batsmen like Virat, Faf du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik yearned for runs. During Silver’s innings, adorned with 4 fours and 3 sixes, it seemed that if he stayed till the end, RCB’s team would give a huge target to Rajasthan. Bengaluru’s hopes of a big score ended with Rajat being dismissed on a brilliant catch by Butler on the boundary line.

Rajat equals Suresh Raina
Rajat Patidar also made a special record during his innings. Patidar has now become the second player to score 50 or more runs in an Eliminator and Qualifier 2 match in a season of IPL. Raina did this feat in the 2014 IPL. Then Raina scored an unbeaten 54 in the Eliminator match for CSK against Mumbai Indians. Then in Qualifier-2, Raina played an innings of 87 runs against Kings XI Punjab.

Rajat scored an unbeaten 112 off 54 balls against Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator. In Qualifier 2 too, 58 runs came off his bat.

Virat and Faf did not work
Former RCB captain Virat Kohli did not bat in Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan. In the match, he scored just 7 runs in 8 balls. He was dismissed by the famous Krishna. Famous fifth ball of the second over, short off length, outside off-stump. Kohli wanted to play a big shot in the off-side, but the ball took the outer edge of the bat and Samson took a simple catch.

The ball was not in his slot and Butler took a brilliant catch at the boundary line. If a batsman with Rajat was playing big shots from the other end, Rajat would not have come under the pressure of run rate. In these conditions, he would strike only the balls found in the slot. Had this been the case, Bengaluru would have been in a position to win the match by reaching big scores.
